A cold and rainy spring caused late blossoming and a delayed harvest but the vintage is quite distinguished. Harvested after a late crop, Rare Millésime 1979 is amazing for its absolute clarity and sharpness. A stately vintage, its freshness expresses a peaceful power. A shimmering shade of amber, it captivates the eye with a serene effervescence. An initial floral nose offers unusual scents of dried flowers (powdered roses, violet, lilacs), followed by notes of honey, scented paper. A second whiff reveals spicier notes of vanilla, ground almonds, brown sugar, chocolate, salted butter caramel and coffee. On the palate, it is vibrant with noble accents of white truffle, cumin, wet hay with a remarkable and a distinctive, slightly woody finish expressing the perfect clarity of the vintage.
